New Delhi. Actress Alia Bhatt has finally made her Hollywood debut with her new spy-thriller-action film ‘Heart of Stone’. Where she is acting alongside popular Israeli actress Gal Gadot.

On making her Hollywood debut after Bollywood, Alia Bhatt says it was a bit strange to suddenly do a full English language film. But, overall it was a great experience.

In an interview with Toronto Sun, Aaliyah was asked about her transformation.

To which Alia said that you know it was a bit strange for me to speak in English all the time, because I am used to speaking in Hindi. Even though I use half English. It was a bit strange to suddenly act in English at that time.

He further said that the first day felt strange in a way. But, the process of film sets is exactly the same all over the world.

Talking about filming the action, Gal Gadot who plays Rachel Stone said it took months of prep time, various workouts and training. But, we all knew what was going to happen. You know this is going to be an action packed film, for which we had to be prepared.

Gal Gadot even said that she really wanted to make this film. She said that after the success of ‘Wonder Woman’, I realized that the action genre has a lot of room for female lead films. We realized that there was an audience for these types of films. When you create a story that has all the elements with a good balance, it has the potential to be successful.

Gal Gadot said that I think, first of all I am a big fan of thriller-suspense. I love the movies ‘Bond’, ‘Mission Impossible’, ‘Bourne Identity’, ‘Die Hard’.

He said that I like suspense, twists and turns, drama, scope, everything related to them. I love being involved in a film and going through a journey. Feeling like I’ve traveled around the world and come back.

What does it take to play a good villain?

Alia, who plays the villainous Keya Dhawan in the film, said she believed in her purpose. Because I think there are two sides to a story and sometimes you are right. Sometimes you are on the wrong side. Sometimes you’re on the exact opposite side. So as long as you believe deep down that your side is actually right, you know the other side is the villain then you are not the villain.

He further added that the topic of Artificial Intelligence is also something that everyone is talking about these days. Most of the spy genre movies these days from ‘Spectre’ to ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning’ are related to this. AI plays an important role in the film.

Both the actresses were asked about their views on AI to which Alia said I think excess of anything is really not good. I definitely think technology has a lot of advantages.

He further said that I think there is more of this invisible force, you know we believe that we are leading, but actually it is leading us. So I think it’s really important to find the right balance and know what you’re doing.

Gadot said that I think AI was always a hot topic and we didn’t expect it. When we conceived the script and started working on the story, we did not realize that it was going to be such a hot topic.

Gadot said that I think it’s fascinating, AI is an incredible force that can be incredible on the one hand and very dangerous on the other. I think a lot of people saw Chat GPT CEO talking about how there should be some rules. And, make sure we go slow, so I think we have to be very careful in how we handle it.

The great thing is that spy-thrillers are becoming very popular not only in Hollywood but also in Bollywood and Tollywood. All are coming up with their respective spy films, ranging from ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ to ‘War’, ‘Pathan’, ‘Vikram’, ‘Vishwaroopam’ and others. For Alia too, this will not be her first film in the detective genre. She has already done a role in ‘Raazi’.

‘Heart of Stone’ is a Netflix film directed by Tom Harper. Its streaming will start from 11 August 2023. (IANS)
