Actor Manoj Bajpayee received the National Award for Best Actor for the drama film Bhonsle, written and directed by Debashish Makhija. This pair of director and actor has come back together once again with the film Zoram. Once again this pair has created such a cinema, which not only touches the heart but also forces one to think.

the story is of survival

The story of the film begins with Vano (Tannishtha Chatterjee) swinging in a swing on a tree and Bala (Manoj Bajpayee) sitting on the ground singing a song on Palash flowers and in the next moment the pair finds themselves in a construction site in the concrete jungle of the city. Visible on the site. Both are trying to add happiness to their lives by working as labourers. A politician Phulo Karma (Smita Tambe) arrives there to distribute something to the construction site workers to shine her politics and after seeing Bala, she calls Bala by his new name Dashru but Bala refuses to accept it. The story progresses. One night, he returns home after working as a laborer and finds that his wife Vano has been murdered and runs away to Jharkhand with his three-year-old daughter Zoram. Bala is suspected of murdering his wife. Along with the police, politician Phulo Karma is also behind him. Why is he after Bala’s life? Is Dashru the real identity of Bala? Does he have a Maoist past? The further story of the film tells the answers to all these questions.

Advantages and disadvantages of the film

Which uniform is legitimate and which uniform is illegitimate? It will take another hundred years to find out. This is the dialogue of a tribal, who understands both sides. First the Maoists and second the police who are opposing them. This is basically the essence of the film. The film is not only the story of Naxalites but also the damage caused to the environment. In many places like Jharkhand, the way nature and the tribes living in it have been exploited in the name of development. This film also raises this issue. Which not only touches the heart but also forces one to think. Covering many issues within itself, this film is also a story of revenge. The songs of the film are average. Background music is effective. Cinematography further strengthens the story. The combination of scenes touches the heart. Every frame not only says a lot but also brings up questions. Dialogue gives them further strength. Talking about the shortcomings, the cat-and-mouse race between Manoj Bajpayee and the system brings thrill, while the struggle behind it has remained at the same level since the beginning. Because of which the film seems to drag on after some time.

Another memorable performance of Manoj Bajpayee

Talking about acting, Manoj Bajpayee has once again proved that he has the skill to get into the character. In every frame of the film, he has brought out Dasru’s pain and his desperation very well. Mohammad Zeeshan Ayub has also left a mark in his character. Smita Tambe impresses a lot in the role of Phulo Karma. From her way of speaking to her body language, she has been perfect in everything. Megha Mathur also impresses. Tannishtha remains memorable even in less screen time. Rest of the characters have also done justice to their roles very well.
