Animal is a success story. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Trupti Dimri, Bobby Deol and many others managed to become a huge hit at the box office. The film ran to full house for several days and grossed over Rs 850 crore at the worldwide box office. Even though it has been more than a month since the film’s release, the conversation about Animal is still going on. Many people criticized the film for being misogynistic. Javed Akhtar’s comments on the film with dialogues like ‘lick my shoes’ had attracted a lot of attention. Now Kangana Ranaut has described the success of Animal as discouraging.

A fan of Kangana Ranaut on X (formerly known as Twitter) praised her film Tejas and expressed surprise as the film did not perform well at the box office. Reacting to the same, Kangana Ranaut blamed it on the negative PR being done against her films. He also talked about audiences’ encouragement of films that depicted ‘women-beating’ and in which women were told dialogues such as ‘lick my shoes’. He did not take anyone’s name but pointed towards Ranbir Kapoor’s latest film Animal. Kangana Ranaut wrote that she is working hard for women empowerment, however, the success of such films is only discouraging.
In the next tweet, Kangana Ranaut wrote about the latest trend in which women have been turned into flowers and stripped of their dignity in films. She further revealed that she rejected films of Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and other big stars ‘for the sake of women empowerment’.
Many viewers have also called out Animal, saying that it depicts brutal violence, bold scenes and toxic masculinity. However, despite all the criticism, Animal did wonders at the box office. Recently a success party was thrown by the film producer. Many stars from Ranbir Kapoor to Alia Bhatt and Tamannaah Bhatia attended the party.
