New Delhi: Former captain of the Indian cricket team and legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev won India its first World Cup in 1983 under his captaincy. On 23 March i.e. on this day in 1994, Kapil played the last match of his international career. However, even after 29 years of retirement, some of Kapil’s records are still unbreakable, which are almost impossible to break. 1) Most wickets taken in an innings as captain

Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev took 9 wickets in an innings in 1983 against the then dreaded team West Indies. He then became the only bowler to take the most wickets in an innings as captain. Significantly, this record of his still stands today.

2) Record for most runs and wickets in a Test series

Kapil Dev took 278 runs and 32 wickets in the Test series played in 1979-80. In such a situation, Kapil Dev is at number 1 in India in terms of taking the most runs and wickets in a Test series. No one is ahead of him. Although Ravichandran Ashwin remains in second place who still plays cricket.

3) Made a world record while batting at number six

5) Record for most runs and wickets in a calendar year

Kapil Dev, popularly known as Haryana Hurricane, holds the world record for scoring more than 600 runs and taking more than 70 wickets in a calendar year in Test cricket. This record of his has remained unbreakable till date. In 1979, Dev scored 619 runs as well as took 74 wickets.
