Karthik wants to see Unadkat in WTC final

Dubai (Best Hindu News): Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik feels that Jaydev Unadkat should be included in India’s playing XI for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, starting June 7.

Entering the WTC final for the second time in a row, India will miss Jasprit Bumrah, who recently underwent a back surgery. The pair of Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami will lead the Indian bowling on the pitch of The Oval in London. Karthik says that along with Siraj and Shami, India should give Unadkat as the third pacer while Shardul Thakur as the fast bowling all-rounder.

“The absence of Jasprit Bumrah will hurt any team in any format, but there are some key bowlers in great form in the form of Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, who bowled really well throughout the IPL,” Karthik said on the ICC’s Review podcast. Is.”

Karthik said, “They also have Shardul Thakur, who has a lot of chances to play, while for the fourth fast bowler, they will have to choose between Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat. You can say they might go for a left-arm bowler (Unadkat) as they would like to diversify the bowling attack.”

India had successfully used three spinners in their XI during the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Test series against Australia in home conditions. Karthik, however, wants to see only one spinner in the Indian team in English conditions. He said that playing Ashwin and Jadeja together in the 2021 WTC final was India’s mistake which the team should not repeat again.

Karthik said, “It would be a very brave decision to play two spinners. Maybe he will play just one spinner and try to play an additional fast bowling all-rounder. Will they field with two spinners? The answer to this question can be given only by looking at the circumstances, closer to the match.

He said, “I remember, he felt last time that he made a mistake by playing two spinners in the Southampton Test (World Test Championship Final 2021). The spinners were not helped on that ground and both the bowlers could not be used properly.

Karthik said, “It will be very interesting to see if India goes down that path. The last time they played in England, they went with a fast bowling all-rounder and just one spinner. So they could do many things. I believe they should go with the same bowling attack.”
