Bhopal | Khelo India Youth Games in Madhya Pradesh started in Bhopal on Monday. The event was inaugurated by Union Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Union Minister Thakur said on the occasion, the fifth edition of Khelo India Youth Games is in front of you today as an example of the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take sports in the country. This event will run for 13 days in nine cities and 6 thousand players will participate in it. This will not happen anywhere else on this land of Madhya Pradesh. Last time when Khelo India Youth Games were held in Haryana, 12 records were broken out of which 11 records were broken by girls. Now let’s see how many records are broken this time on the land of Madhya Pradesh.
He said that on the one hand players will break records and on the other hand, I urge the people of Madhya Pradesh to come to the stadium in record numbers, so that Madhya Pradesh gets a chance to organize the next event like the National Games or any other event. The people of Madhya Pradesh are requested to win everyone’s heart by organizing such an event.
He said that the budget of Khelo India has been increased to Rs 3200 crore for the next five years. The budget of sports has also been increased.
Thakur said that usually before any big tournament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacts with the players and boosts their morale. This time a game like Malkhamb has also been included in the Khelo India Youth Games. Now it is not a regional but a national game. I hope it becomes an international game soon.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the spirit of sports should win in this event of Khelo India Youth Games. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Nishith, Madhya Pradesh Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia were present in the programme.
These games are going to last for 13 days in the state. In this Mahakumbh, about six thousand players from all over the country will display their sporting skills for more than 900 medals, including about three hundred gold medals, in 27 sports events. Eight cities of Madhya Pradesh Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Mandla, Balaghat and Maheshwar and Delhi are hosting various sports events of this Youth Games.
