1483 – The Sistine Chapel of the Vatican opens for prayer.
1788 – Ghulam Qadir blinded Sultan Shah Alam II of Delhi by thrusting his dagger into his eye.
1830 – Louis Philippe becomes King of France.
1831 – Steam engine train ran for the first time in America.
1892 – Thomas Alva Edison patented the two-way telegraph.
1910 – Alva Fischer received a patent for an electric washing machine.
1916 – Lassen Volcanic National Park was established in California.
1925- Under the leadership of revolutionary Ram Prasad Bismil, 10 people escaped with four thousand rupees by breaking the iron vault in the train compartment. This incident is famous as Kakori Conspiracy.
1942 – Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was arrested along with 50 supporters after raising the slogan ‘Do or Die’ with the Quit India Movement in Mumbai.

1974 – Vice President Gerald Ford becomes the 38th President of the United States upon the resignation of President Nixon.
