Kumud Mishra is against censor on OTT, people have option not to watch it

Actor Kumud Mishra, who has got himself included in the best actors of the cine world, is in a lot of discussions these days about his web series Lust Story-2. In one story of this web series, he played the role of Kajol’s sexually abusive husband. Talking about his role, he says that he had objections to doing this role. I had doubts whether I would be able to do it right or not. In one of his recent interviews he also said that how the audience would react to it and whether they would accept him to play such a role was something that was never in his mind. Whenever I take on a role or play a certain character, I cannot keep in mind my audience base. Big stars can do this because they have an image and people want us to live up to that image. But for me as an actor, the fan base is never a reference, rather my own challenges as an actor matter. Talking about his hesitation to play the character and do justice to it, Mishra said that the reason was that he had never done anything like this before. There was the fear of failure…whether I would be able to do it or not. But the director showed a lot of faith in me and that gave me the confidence to go ahead. While people, recently, have been citing obscenity on OTTs, arguing that it makes them uncomfortable, the Mission Majnu and Kutty actor has been advocating self-censorship in such cases. He says that the audience has the option of not watching it. Today all kinds of work should be done and are being done. From adult content to family drama, there is no dearth of content. You can choose what you want to watch. But why would anyone want to take on the responsibility of deciding what should be built and what should not be built? Actually, there is no way to decide who will be harmed by what. These days people get hurt over everything. As for those complaining that content like Lust Stories is not family-friendly, the actor says it is clear that you will not watch such a show with your kids. Mishra argues that as a consumer of online content, I would know who should be my company for a particular project. I don’t understand this debate. We can’t find time to sit and talk with family, but we have to fight whether we can watch a movie with them or not.

While Mishra is open to experimenting on OTT as it gives him an opportunity to explore his capabilities, he is against the idea of ​​being a part of promotional projects. He says that I can play a very negative character, as there is a strong and logical point to his actions. I can’t do anything for sensationalism. I don’t mind sex scenes, or even abusing. But why are you abusing him, there must be a reason behind it. But I don’t want to do any such project which is publicity and creates inconvenience in the society. He revealed that he has been offered many such projects. I don’t question the people who made it because I am against any kind of censorship. But I would like to distance myself from it.
