As a singer, you have established your presence on the screen, so will you try your hand at acting now?

See, the people with whom I am signed say that I should act in my videos myself. Everyone is liking me. However, this was not my first preference. And my first duty is for the audience, whatever they are. He is in the form of a singer. Because he has given me identity. So I don’t want to move around until I reach a point where my voice is reaching everyone’s heart because that would be wrong with my audience. He has liked me as a singer. That’s why I will keep myself in singing only. Then later let’s see where the luck will take us.

Your background is related to businessman, so how did you decide to join this industry?

I had never taken singing seriously as a profession in my life. Was involved in the business from the beginning. I was 19 when I started the business. Saw a lot of growth in this. Saw success. After that it happens that you do not choose your career or future. Career and future chooses you. This is how Karan Johar approached me. I got his message on Instagram. And from there things took off. He wanted me to sing for his films. He signed me. He wanted me to sing and also feature in his videos. So just like that my journey started. It’s been a year since.

I also read at one place that when you were doing your graduation, there was a loss in your business, so you had to leave your studies midway and go to manage it. What is this story?

I was doing my graduation in Amritsar. I was studying in IIT. I left in the third semester itself because I could see that my family situation had become a bit problematic. Because the loss was going on in the business. I am a bit sensitive, so accordingly I felt that I have to stand up for my family. Then I built my business, set it up under my direction, ran it. After that God and luck supported a lot. And today it is doing very well. It is in the business of manufacturing and exporting furniture.

Did you learn singing from childhood or is it inherent? Is there anyone in the family who sings?

No, there is no one in the family who sings. My mother was a sitar player. Everyone has the sense of music. No one was singing. There was just a connection, because of which it is like this. Learned a little Learned a lot from myself and a little from the gurus. He started learning when he was 11 years old. My family also supported a lot. Punjabi family and open minded. So he has always supported me.

While singing, have you ever felt that it is difficult, it will not be possible or have you ever felt that there is a lot of effort in this song?

Have sung three songs so far. This is the third song. We fell in love with the song when we made it. He took this song to that point with great enthusiasm. It has been released on such a large scale. He is performing well and this song is also tough. Very high scale. But it is said that there is no question of easy or difficult in whatever you like. If you see in the music and songs that this is tough, then your heart will be shaken there. I do what I like to sing. I’m not here for the money. I have not even come here for money. I never sing a song where my heart is not there. I sing what my heart touches because only then it will be able to reach the hearts of others. If I think that I will sing this song for money, then it is not in my nature. I can’t do this for money.

How did Karan Johar approach you? Did he ever see any of your music clips etc.?

Yes it so happened that I had a follower on Instagram who was a very good friend of Karan Johar. He was from Canada. He used to watch my videos a lot. He had sent a video of mine to Karan. After this, Karan had praised a lot. I don’t know what is the perception in the world but for me Karan is a godfather. He is a great support for me. He gave me vision. Gave directions. Showed the way and what is going on today. Everything is going great.
