Ayodhya. Arun Govil, who became a household name by playing the role of Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s famous serial Ramayana, says that Lord Ram is an integral part of India’s culture and its identity. Actor Arun Govil, who played the role of Lord Ram in Ramayana, has been invited for the grand event along with his co-star Deepika Chikhlia. Deepika Chikhalia played the role of Mother Sita in the serial.
In an interview, Arun Govil said that Lord Ram is the pride of our country, identity of culture and self-respect. Courage, seriousness, thoughtfulness, respect given to elders… everything is there in the character of Lord Ram. The actor said that he was not the first choice to play the role of Lord Ram in the famous serial. He said, I had told Ramanand Sagar ji in the beginning that I only wanted to play the character of Lord Ram… I was rejected and this role was offered to someone else. But later I was called back for this role.
Arun Govil said, “Ramayana gave Govil love and recognition, but after that he got fewer roles because it was difficult for filmmakers to imagine him in a different role. However, the actor said that no other character would have earned him this level of respect. Regarding his role in Ramayana, Govil said that it (Ramayana) had many advantages and disadvantages in professional life. At that time I was doing good work in films, but after that I could not work in films. At that time I felt that it was a loss for me but now I realize that even if I had done 500 films, I would not have got the love and respect I get.” Ramanand Sagar’s son Prem Sagar committed suicide. The consecration ceremony was described as historic.
