Jeddah: Manchester City defeated Fluminense 4-0 in the Club World Cup final here on Friday to win its fifth title in 2023. Manchester City took the lead within just 40 seconds when Julian Alvarez scored. Fluminense captain Nino’s suicide goal in the 27th minute doubled Manchester City’s lead and then Phil Foden scored the team’s third goal in the 72nd minute.
Alvaroz scored his second goal in the 88th minute to make it 4–0 to Manchester City. With this, Manchester City won its first Club World Cup title and gave Europe its 16th trophy in 17 editions of this FIFA club competition. Manchester City has won the FA Cup, Premier League, Champions League and Super Cup titles this year.
The victory made Pep Guardiola the first coach to win the FIFA World Cup with three different teams. He led Barcelona to this title in 2009 and 2011. Then in 2013, Bayern Munich also won this trophy. Guardiola celebrated this victory calmly, he went to console Fluminense coach Fernando Diniz, shook his hand and placed his hand on his shoulders.
