Mumbai (Uttam Hindu News): Actress Deepika Singh is all set to play the lead role in the family drama ‘Mangal Lakshmi’. She has opened up about her character and revealed how the show reflects many examples that we see around us everyday. The show revolves around Mangal (Deepika), who is a multitasker. She plays the role of daughter, wife and daughter-in-law faithfully and also brings up her younger sister, Lakshmi (played by Sanika Amit).
Mangal is attempting to find a life partner for Lakshmi, while ensuring that the younger daughter does not suffer the same humiliation that Mangal experienced in her marriage with Adit (played by Naman Shaw). Set to play the role of Mangal, Deepika, best known for her role in ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, shared: “I am thrilled to play the role of Mangal, a desi and relatable character from Delhi. This is a story of an unusual bond between two sisters, which reflects many of the examples we see around us every day.”
He said, “I myself have seen many stories in my own family and among my friends, which have inspired me. I also feel that audiences in our country like to see such sympathetic characters on screen and connect with them. Deepika is delighted to bring the character of Mangal to life and hopes that the audience will find relatability in every characteristic of the character.
Talking about playing the role of Lakshmi, Sanika shared: “Mangal Lakshmi is my first project as an actor with TV. Lakshmi is a simple girl who strongly believes in standing up for her rights and challenging what she considers wrong. Naman said, “Adit’s character is egoistic. He considers his wife weak. My character aims to showcase the patriarchal and still prevalent aspect of real-world challenges in Indian marriages. He said, “As an actor, I am dedicated to bringing authenticity to every character I play and I am excited and eager to play this multi-dimensional character with ease.”
