Manoj Muntashir is still regretting about Adipurush, said- it was hundred percent my mistake

Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanen and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles, is one of the biggest flops and controversial films of 2023. The film opened to huge audiences in theaters but flopped at the box office, following negative response and poor reviews from film critics. Along with this, the film also created a lot of controversy due to its dialogues.

With each passing day, there was a continuous uproar regarding the film. After the release of Adipurush, the film’s producers, Om Raut, especially the dialogue writer, Manoj Muntashir, were heavily criticized. Despite facing severe backlash, both Raut and Manoj defended the film and even assured to change some controversial dialogues. Now recently in a conversation with Aaj Tak, Manoj Muntashir said that he regrets defending such mistakes and he will try to avoid such issues in future also.

What did Manoj Muntashir say on the defense of Adipurush?

Manoj Muntashir said “Yes, 100 percent, there is no doubt about it. I am not that insecure person that I will defend my writing skills by saying that I have written well. Hey, this is 100% mistake. But when a mistake was made, there was no bad intention behind that mistake. He said, “I had absolutely no intention of hurting religion and troubling Sanatan or defaming Lord Ram or saying anything about Hanuman ji which does not exist.”

Calling it a “big mistake” and a learning experience, he added, “I would never even think of doing that.” What I mean to say is that a big mistake was made and I learned a lot from this accident and it was a great learning process. I will be very careful from now on. But that doesn’t mean we’ll stop talking about ourselves.”

Talking about the reaction and anger received after the release of the film, he said, “I feel that when things were going on so loudly, I should not have given a clarification at that time. This was my biggest mistake. I should not have said anything at that time. If people are angry with this then their anger is justified. Because that was not the time to give clarification and today I understand that mistake.”

Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush was said to be inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana, but the names of the characters were completely different from what was written in the OG version. Adipurush was reportedly made with a massive budget of around Rs 600 crore as the makers spent huge sums on the visual effects of the film. Earlier it was scheduled to hit the big screens in January but it was postponed for six months. But the fate of the film did not change and Adipurush flopped badly at the box office.
