Abidjan (Uttam Hindu News): Mohamed Salah had to leave the match midway due to injury, after which his team Egypt played a 2-2 draw with Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations, which led to early exit for both the countries. Danger arose.
Mohamed Salah was substituted due to injury in the 45th minute of the Group B match on Thursday night.
The inclusion of Mohammed Kudus in Ghana’s starting line-up yielded immediate results when the West Ham United defender headed home an assist from Abdul Salis Samed to put Ghana 1–0 ahead.
For Egypt, Omar equalized the score in the 69th minute with the help of a pass from defender Howler.
However, Mohammed Qudus soon gave Ghana the lead once again as he made it 2–1 in the 71st minute.
But Egypt equalized for the second time in the 73rd minute through Mustafa Mohammed. Till the end of the match the score remained 2-2.
The result requires Ghana to beat Mozambique in their final Group B match on Monday to qualify for the last 16.
A win for Egypt against Cape Verde would see them advance in the tournament, while a draw could also be enough to advance. But the condition will be that the four best third-placed teams also advance.
