Florida. Daniil Medvedev overcame a second-set fightback from Chile’s Nicolas Jarry to win 6-2, 7-6(7) and will face Jannik Sinner in the Miami Open semi-finals, a rematch of the Australian Open final.

Medvedev made only three unforced errors in the first set against Jerzy K14, before Jerzy clawed his way back into the match and came within two points of stealing the second set in a rollercoaster tie-break.

But Medvedev showed courage to extend his winning streak to nine matches at Hard Rock Stadium and remains two wins away from successfully defending the title for the first time in his career, ATP reports.

If Jerry were to defeat Medvedev, he would return to the top 20 and become the first Chilean to reach the Miami semi-finals since Fernando González in 2004.

Earlier in the day, Sinner reached her fourth semifinal of the year and earned her season-leading 20th match win at the Miami Open.

The Italian player performed brilliantly and defeated Czech player Tomas Machak 6-4, 6-2 in 91 minutes.

Sinner, who has reached the finals twice in Miami (2021, 2023), reached the last four for the third time.

Aiming for his second ATP Masters 1000 title, the No. 3 player in the ATP rankings has capped a 20-1 season with titles at the Australian Open and Rotterdam.
