parisSeven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi has again found a place in the list of players nominated for this prestigious football award after a year but his long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo does not figure in this list. Messi, who won the title and is currently playing for Inter Miami, did not find a place in this list last year.
This time Messi’s name is included in the list of 30 male players released on Wednesday. He is likely to face stiff competition from Ailing Haaland and Kylin Mbappe for the award. Last year’s winner Karim Benzema also features in the list. Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Nasser, missed out on the list for the first time since 2003. Ronaldo has won this prestigious award five times.
The winner will be announced on October 30. In the women’s list, World Cup winner Spain has six players. Among them is Aitana Bonmati, who was named UEFA Women’s Player of the Year last week.
