The song “Naatu Naatu” from SS Rajamouli’s film RRR has won the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards. Composed by MM Keeravani, lyrics by Chandrabose and sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kala Bhairav, the song became widely popular soon after its release in March 2022. It got a lot of love from the foreign audience as well. Videos of the hook step of the song went viral on social media in different parts of the world. Now Prem Rakshit, who choreographed the hook-step of this song, had made many revelations regarding its shooting.

Took around 20 days to complete the shoot

In an exclusive conversation with Indian Express, the choreographer of the song, Prem Rakshit, had told that Ram Charan and Jr. NTR took about 20 days to complete the shooting of Natu Natu. There was a lot of energy in both. Praising Rajamouli, he further said, “Rajamouli sir told me everything, which song is going to be there, what is the concept and everything.”

It took two months to prepare the steps

While the cast took around 20 days to rehearse and shoot the song, Prem spent two months preparing the steps for the dance. The song is a peppy dance number, but the actor didn’t want any break while shooting for the song. Prem says, “Whatever instructions I gave them, they did. Rajamouli sir used to rehearse with us after pack-up. So we would get up at 6 in the morning and sleep till 10 at night. Everyone worked very hard. .”

Composed more than 118 steps

The Hyderabad-based choreographer revealed that he faced difficult situations while shooting for the song but he remained focused. He recalls, “I had composed more than 118 steps for this song. Usually we used to compose 2-3 steps for a song but we went ahead and composed multiple steps. Both Ram and Jr. NTR are superb in their dancing skills, “one is a lion while the other is a panther”.
