Story of ‘Bad Boy’ Movie

Raghu is of no use. But he falls in love with Rituparna, a top-ranker student. Obviously Rituparna’s father is not happy about this. He turns against it. Now Raghu has to prove himself if he wants to get his love. This is the story of Mithun Chakraborty’s son Namashi Chakraborty’s debut film. He plays Raghu in the film, while Amrish Qureshi plays his lady love Rituparna. ‘Bad Boy’ is a typical Rajkumar Santoshi type comedy film. A fun-loving and goofy boy Raghu (Namashi Chakraborty) and a rich, well-educated but simple girl Rituparna (Amreen) are in love. But her strict father Banerjee (Saswat Chatterjee) is like a thorn in the road of this love. If the son of a scrap dealer wants to marry his daughter, he has to be of ‘high quality’ and ‘high standard’. Now a challenge is given to Raghu. He has to bear the expenses of Banerjee’s house for a month, so that he can understand that Raghu can give a comfortable life to their daughter, Rituparna. Now will Raghu be able to complete this challenge of Banerjee? Or will Banerjee not allow Raghu to complete this challenge by imposing discrimination? This is the story of the film.

There is nothing in the first half of the film, which you have not seen on screen before today. Yes, Raghu who woos Ritu and manipulates her father’s demands is liked. His hard work to lead an honest life seems very fortunate and convenient. The story picks up pace in the second half. Comedy has been given a lot of space in the film. Veteran comedian Johnny Lever is hilarious as Poltu, a goon and Ritu’s maternal uncle. You can hardly find any fault in his comic timing. Rajpal Yadav also makes a cameo appearance, but not in the avatar he is known for.

Director Rajkumar Santoshi steers the film in his richly felt and satisfying style. But there are flaws in Sanjeev’s screenplay. The story progresses intermittently. Loses its speed at many places. Throughout the film, we are reminded of other Bollywood films because we often see what is happening on the screen. In case of song and dance also the matter is routine. Everything is set on a set formula. Colorful posters with dialogues have been used to make the plot fun, which looks good. There are some funny dialogues and scenes in the film, which appear in the second half.

Debutant Namashi and Amreen’s chemistry sizzles on screen. This is the first time for both of them on screen and both are promising. Expectations can be made ahead of them. Namashi has done a great job in emotional scenes. He is also a good dancer like his father. A glimpse of father Mithun Chakraborty is seen in him. Amrin Qureshi is a treat for the eyes and has done her job with utmost sincerity. Shashwat Chatterjee in the role of father is just in one tone, and what he is going to do next can also be easily guessed. Rajesh Sharma’s character has depth and grabs your attention.

Rajkumar Santoshi has given cult film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ to Hindi cinema in terms of comedy. There are one or two references in this film, when you remember Santoshi’s masterpiece. Especially when Ashwin Mushran says, ‘I am Gulati, because my name is also Gulati.’ It reminds me of Teja. Or when Raghu’s father (Rajesh Sharma) says to him, ‘Beta, tu jab jab khush hua hai, main waad hua hoon!’ It reminds you of Deven Verma’s character. There is also a reference to Namashi’s father Mithun Chakraborty at one point in the film when he is singing ‘Halwa Wala Aa Gaya’.

Why see- ‘Bad Boy’ is a romantic-comedy film, which may appeal to the youth. However, the treatment and plot of the film is very predictable. If you want to see something that doesn’t have too much mathachchi, you want entertainment in a light-hearted way, then this film of Namashi Chakraborty can be seen once.
