Story of the movie ‘Gaslight’
‘Gaslight’ is the story of Misha (Sara Ali Khan), the daughter of the former king of a princely state in Gujarat. Meesha, who was disabled due to an accident, is on a wheel chair. Meesha, who has been away from her father for a long time due to some rift, goes to meet him when her father calls her. But in the palace, instead of her father, Meesha’s stepmother Rukmini (Chitrangda Singh) welcomes her. Misha does not understand that his father called him, but he himself has disappeared. Meanwhile, strange things start happening with Misha. Sometimes he sees his father at night, and sometimes his shadow is seen. A worried Misha files a police complaint about her father’s disappearance.
Here, Rukmini constantly tries to convince Meesha that it is all a figment of her mind. Kapil (Vikrant Massey), the manager who takes care of the palace, says that Raja Saheb disappears with his female friends many times in the past as well. Kapil also informs Meesha that Rukmini along with her friends, the district SP and the family doctor of the royal family, is planning to usurp the king’s property. Will Misha be able to find her father? Is Rukmini really the villain of this story or is there some other problem in the story? You will have to watch the film to know this.

The film’s writer-director Pawan Kripalani has tried unsuccessfully to make a mystery thriller film on a weak story. The screenplay of the film is so weak that it doesn’t hook you. Many scenes of the film have been shot in the dark, which makes it a dark film, but the weak treatment of the story does not make it effective. For example, a girl sitting on a wheel chair wandering alone in many places can disturb you. While the SP of the district also does not understand coming alone for investigation. Especially before the interval, you find the story of the film quite complicated. Even after the interval, the story picks up a bit.
You see a gaslight in the very first scene of the film, but in reality its title is used under that term, in which a person is said to be gaslighted to believe something false. Sara Ali Khan’s acting in the film is nothing special. She has not been able to do anything special in the role of a disabled girl.
This is the third consecutive film of Sara Ali Khan, which has been released directly on OTT. Sara needs to be careful about her choice of films. Chitrangada Singh has definitely done a good acting in the film, while Vikrant Massey is also fine. The film also has seasoned actors like Rahul Dev and Shishir Sharma, but the director could not make full use of them.
Why see- If you want to watch a good movie on weekend, then don’t waste your time watching this movie. Still, if you’re looking for something for Typas, Gaslight is a decent choice.
