Zeenat Aman (72), a veteran actress of the 70-80s, recently gave advice to the youth regarding live-in-relationships on her Instagram. Zeenat had written that the couple should live together before marriage. He has given the same advice to his two sons who are in live-in relationships. Reality check is done only by living together. Now Zeenat’s contemporary actress Mumtaz (76) recently expressed her disagreement with Zeenat’s viewpoint in an interview given to Zoom.

Both the actresses had worked together in Dev Anand’s famous film ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’. Mumtaz said that I do not agree with Zeenat. No matter how much you live-in, what is the guarantee? Who will guarantee that your marriage will be successful even after living together for months and years? Instead of live-in, girls should look for such boys whom they like. The upbringing of children, especially daughters, should be such that they do not have to depend on a man for anything.

I say that marriage should not take place at all. What is the need to keep oneself tied down in today’s times? Why marry? for children? Hey, go out and find a man you like and get his child without physical intimacy. The times have moved forward a lot. Let your children become self-reliant. Raise your daughters in such a way that they do not need any man to complete themselves. I have been married for more than 40 years. The marriage has to be consummated. This is not easy. Zeenat should post thoughtfully.

I can understand that she is desperate to gain social media popularity and is trying to be the cool aunty but she should be careful with the advice she gives. If every girl starts living in live-in marriage then marriage will become obsolete. Will Zeenat get her son married to a girl who has been in a live-in relationship?

Take Zeenat for example…she knew Mazhar Khan for years before marrying him. Still their marriage was like hell. With what right is she giving advice on relationships?

It is noteworthy that Mumtaz married businessman Mayur Madhvani in the year 1974. They have two daughters Tanya and Natasha. Natasha is married to Fardeen Khan, son of late actor Firoz Khan.
