Actor Divyenndu Sharma, who was last seen on the big screen in Kunal Kemmu’s Margao Express, has gained immense popularity for his role in the web series Mirzapur. And while his role as Munna Bhaiya has been appreciated, the makers were shocked when Munna Tripathi was killed at the end of season 2. Now, Divyendu has dashed all the hopes of fans who assumed that he would return in the new season. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, actor Divyendu confirmed that he is not a part of Mirzapur Season 3. Sharing that the character has started affecting his personality and taking him to a dark place, Divyendu confirmed not to reprise his role.
He said in an interview to Humans of Bombay, Let me declare, I am not a part of Mirzapur Season 3. When I was in the character, it was having a lot of impact on my personality. We should not be over-romanticized by going too deep into a character, because it is not easy. Sometimes, it got really dark for me. I felt suffocated. It’s so complicated that you don’t even realize you’re in that area. Only when you come out of it do you realize how dark it was.
Divyendu played one of the lead characters in his political crime thriller. The first season of the show was streamed on Amazon Prime in 2018, and the second season followed in 2020. While the third installment was in the works since June last year, the show is finally set to return with a new season this year. Earlier in March, the new season of Mirzapur was announced by Amazon Prime at a grand event. The entire cast was present on this occasion. Other actors seen in lead roles in Mirzapur are Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Duggal and Shweta Tripathi Sharma.
On the work front, Divyendu was last seen in the comedy film Margao Express alongside Pratik Gandhi and Avinash Tiwari. The film not only received a lot of praise from critics, but also performed well commercially.
