Vishwa Hindu Parishad Nangal President Vikas Prabhakar was murdered inside his shop. According to information Vikas Prabhakar Was present in his confectionery shop located on Railway Road. At around quarter to five in the evening, when an auto mechanic Manish Kumar went to his shop to collect the goods, he saw him in a bloody condition in the shop. Immediately informed the nearby shopkeepers about the incident. When neighboring shopkeepers picked up Vikas, they found that he had been attacked on the back side of the head with a sharp weapon. The meat from his head had fallen on the shop. He was rushed to Civil Hospital Nangal in critical condition, but by then he had died. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and after examining the footage of the CCTV camera installed in the shop, it was found that two youths had come to Vikas’s shop on a black numberless Jupiter scooter and left from there after some time. Only after this, auto mechanic Manish Kumar came to the shop and it was he who saw Vikas in a bloody condition. At present, the police have taken CCTV footage in their possession and started investigation. According to Additional DSP Ajay Singh, the accused will be arrested soon.

Vikas Prabhakar, father of two daughters, had become the urban president of VHP only three months ago and was a person of religious nature, hence he was given the responsibility of the post of President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. There is an atmosphere of anger and panic in Punjab including Nangal due to the broad daylight murder of Vikas Prabhakar. The increasing smuggling of beef in Punjab has already become a topic of discussion. The Punjab government will have to take strict action against those gangs and individuals who are active in disturbing the brotherhood as well as law and order of the state, especially after the murder of Vikas Prabhakar and the beef smuggling and threats being received by Hindu leaders.

Such incidents during Lok Sabha elections reflect the failure of the local administration as well as the state government. If the political and social environment of the state deteriorates, the image and credibility of the state government will be the first to be affected. If the Punjab government does not let its credibility and image get weakened, then it will have to catch the murderers of Vikas Prabhakar and put them behind the bars and also ensure that they are punished.
