India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will enter the field in the new year 2024 with many big goals.
Neeraj will have his eyes on the gold double in the Olympics to be held in Paris.
Neeraj is currently training in South Africa. His target is to throw 90 meters javelin in this year’s Paris Olympics.
Neeraj will stay in South Africa for 85 days after which he will leave for Europe to train for the Paris Olympics.
Last year, Neeraj Chopra, who became world champion in 2023, won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. He recently won the gold medal in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Olympic and world champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra had clearly said last year that his best performance is yet to come and by improving his technique, he can cross the 90 meter barrier next year i.e. in 2024.
Last year he had said that ‘six centimeters can be achieved’. A throw of 89.94 meters was thrown in the Stockholm Diamond League (June 2022). At that time I was one line behind. If he had gone a little further and thrown, he would have gone 90 metres.
He said, ‘My coach believes that 60 percent of the work is done by the legs and the rest by the upper body. The role of feet is important. I have to improve it.
Chopra had said last year that ‘there is no problem of flexibility. Hand speed is good. Next year I will work on my technique. If everything goes well and you remain 100 percent fit, your performance in the Paris Olympics will be good.
In the Hangzhou Asian Games played last year, he had admitted that my technique was not good. The leg work was not good but the arm speed was good.
