New players of Delhi Capitals eager to play in IPL 2024

Visakhapatnam. JSW and GMR co-owned franchise Delhi Capitals picked up three exciting talents in all-rounder Sumit Kumar, wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Kushagra and batsman Ricky Bhui in the IPL mini-auction 2024. These players are currently training hard at the IPL 2024 pre-season camp in Visakhapatnam under the supervision of head coach Ricky Ponting and DC Cricket Director Sourav Ganguly.

Kumar Kushagra, who scored 1245 runs in 19 first-class matches, said about being a part of an IPL team for the first time, “I am very excited to be a part of the IPL for the first time. I will get a chance to play with so many big international players. Playing who I have grown up watching. However, my main aim will be to win matches for Delhi Capitals.”

Kushagra also got to experience batting with superstar wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant during the training session, “I batted with Rishabh Pant for the first time and he gave me a lot of insight about my game. He was playing shots single-handedly and hitting sixes. He was hitting the ball well. He was also hitting the ball well. Hopefully, together we will win the match for Delhi Capitals.”

Meanwhile, all-rounder Sumit Kumar, who scored 574 runs and took 43 wickets in T20s, talked about his journey before bagging the IPL contract, “It’s been a long journey for me since I started playing cricket at the age of seven. I’ve been playing well in domestic cricket over the last three years and I was hoping for an IPL contract. It’s great to join Delhi Capitals this year.”

Local player Ricky Bhui, who has scored 1497 runs in 62 T20Is, believes he is peaking at the right time, “I am going into the tournament scoring a lot of runs and I feel I am peaking at the right time “I am arriving. I never thought I would get a chance to play IPL at home. I am very familiar with the conditions here and it will be great to play in front of my family and friends. I want to win as many matches as possible.”

Delhi Capitals will take on Punjab Kings in their first match of IPL 2024 on March 23 in Chandigarh.
