Hockey India on Monday announced a 20-member Indian women’s hockey team under the leadership of Savita Kumari for the three-match series against Australia to be held in Adelaide from May 18. In this, three women hockey players of Jharkhand – Nikki Pradhan in defender, Salima Tete in midfielder and Sangeeta Kumari in forward have been included. Nikki Pradhan is from Khunti district, while Salima Tete and Sangeeta Kumari are from Simdega district. All the three players are currently working in Ranchi Railway.
Goalkeeper Savita got command of the team
Indian goalkeeper Savita has got the command of the team on Australia tour. At the same time, the responsibility of the vice-captaincy of the team will be in the hands of Grace Ekka. Apart from these, Bichu Devi Kharibam is the second goalkeeper. Defenders Deep Grace Ekka, Nikki Pradhan, Ishika Chowdhary, Udita and Gurjeet Kaur have been included in the squad. Nisha, Navjot Kaur, Monika, Salima Tete, Neha, Navneet Kaur, Sonika, Jyoti and Baljeet Kaur will handle the responsibility of the midfielders. The experienced Vandana Kataria will lead the forward line, which also includes Lalremsiami, Sangeeta Kumari and Sharmila Devi. Let us tell you that India will face Australia on May 18, 20 and 21, followed by Australia A on May 25 and 27. All five matches will be played at the Met Stadium in Adelaide.
