Noida. Noida Police on Sunday arrested YouTuber Elvish Yadav in connection with the investigation into the suspected use of snake venom for intoxication at a party here. The officers provided this information. Yadav is one of the six accused named in the FIR lodged at Sector-49 police station here on November 3 last year. Officials said five other accused were arrested but are currently out on bail. He said the case was registered under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and section 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to criminal conspiracy. Later the case was transferred from Sector-49 to Sector-20 police station for investigation.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Manish Mishra told PTI, “A team of Sector-20 police station, which is investigating the case, has arrested the accused.” Yadav has denied allegations of involvement in the case. The police had interrogated him earlier. In the case, the sub-inspector in-charge of Sector-49 police station where the FIR was registered was removed. The case was registered on the complaint of an official of animal rights group ‘People for Animals’ (PFA).

On November 3, five people were arrested from a banquet hall in Sector-51 and nine snakes, including five cobras, were freed from them. 20 ml of snake venom was also seized from the accused. However, police officials had said that Yadav was not present in the party hall and they are investigating his role in the entire incident of use of snake venom for intoxication.

PFA president and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Maneka Gandhi accused Yadav of being involved in illegally selling snake venom and demanded his immediate arrest. On November 4, Yadav was briefly stopped for questioning by the police in Rajasthan’s Kota while he was traveling in a car with his friends but was soon released.
