Under the aegis of Navi Mumbai Maithil Trust, the paid premiere show of the first Maithili webseries “Noonroti” was held with great enthusiasm and gaiety on Sunday, 14 January 2024 at Bunts Center Auditorium, Juinagar, Navi Mumbai.

In this program, along with eight episodes of Maithili webseries “Noonroti”, lectures on Maithili language and culture, quiz on Maithili words etc. were presented among the children. The show started with the rendition of the traditional Maithili Bhagwati song “Jai Jai Bhairavi” followed by a soulful Bharatnatyam dance performance by Mithila’s daughter Gaurangi Chaudhary on the song sung by Mithila’s popular singer Sharda Sinha ji. Let us tell you that Gaurangi is a native of “Kharhara” village under Banka district of Mithila’s immortal martyr Satish Chandra Jha, who was one of the 7 martyrs who hoisted the flag on Bihar Secretariat and lives in Mumbai.

This program was organized with the public participation of common Maithil people and the entry fee for the audience was kept at Rs 500/-. It is known that Noonroti Maithili web series has also been produced to some extent through crowd funding. This was the first occasion of organizing such a grand event of a film etc. show with the cooperation of common Maithils, which is historical in itself. The excitement and enthusiasm of the people of Mithila was at its peak in the auditorium packed with spectators.
