Comedian actor Kapil Sharma’s film Zwigato is going to hit the theaters tomorrow. Kapil’s opposite actress Shahana will be seen in this film. She tells this film a heart touching story and also does not forget to say that after watching this film the fans of her co-actor Kapil Sharma will not be able to believe that Kapil can do this too. Conversation with Urmila Kori.

What was most appealing to you about Zwigato?

Got a chance to work in director Nandita Das’s first film Firaq. It was a wonderful experience, so this time also there was no scope to say no. It is also with Nandita that the stories come out of her heart. There is a credibility, a reality in it. Which is not seen everywhere. There is a different privilege to work in such a film. This is the first time. When Nandita is telling the story in a different style. Its demand was different, so the story has not been told in a very heavy way. Four days of a common man’s family have been shown. Sympathy will overflow after seeing him. There is not only pain, there is also laughter involved in the game. It is shown very simply. There is a lot of depth in this simplicity.

What kind of challenges did Pratima’s character make you aware of?

As an actor, this challenge always remains, if you are not aware of this world. The background from which the image is. He is very different from me. By the way, my background is quite different even among my friends. My parents have been very liberal. I got a great discount. To live his life in his own way which was not ordinary or common. I am very lucky that I got this kind of childhood. Got this kind of life. In such a situation, there was a fear that I would not catch the wrong tone for the character of Pratima. We don’t have experience. Can definitely guess. If Nandita was there, then there was more help. In the film, our family is from Dhanbad in Jharkhand, so it was a matter of accent. He is different from Bihari. people who are from there. He would understand this thing very well, so there was a hesitation that I might not look artificial while speaking that language. By the way, Nandita had hired a female diction coach for us. He recorded all our dialogues and gave us how to speak. I also spoke all the dialogues in front of her so that when she hears me speaking, whatever mistakes are there. can fix it.

Where has the film been shot?

Nandita wanted the film to be shot in Tier 2 city. He thought why not film it in Orissa. People think that Nandita is Bengali, but she is half Oriya and half Gujarati. Originally his family is from Odisha. They thought to show only Tier 2, so why not Bhubaneswar, because no film has been shot there yet. There are so many cities. There are so many cultures. We have never heard of Oriya language. In the film, you will hear other characters talking in Oriya language. Every maker should keep exploring the new place of India like this.

This film is on labor class, have you ever seen their personal life closely?

He has been a close part of my life, because where I grew up in my childhood. The people who used to work for us in that colony. I was friends with his children. Those people used to live just a short distance from our building. Climbing trees, plucking fruits, playing the game of pittu, stealing sugarcane from sugarcane carts in summer. After Holi, everyone went to their house and ate gujiyas. Somewhere those things were known. I grew up in it. My parents have also discriminated less. To the extent that there can be equality, together with those who work for us. When I was growing up, there was so much inequality in Delhi, I used to feel suffocated. I live openly in Mumbai because there is no such discrimination here. Things have changed in Delhi too. I always believe that any kind of discrimination with humans is wrong.

You are a housewife in the film, how good are you at household chores in your personal life?

I am very good My parents have trained me very well in household chores, because both of them are good at household chores. By the way, I cook the least in my house. My mother, father and brother all cook better than me. I also know the broom very well. I do all the work from home, so my lockdown has been good.

So don’t you order food?

I order a lot because I am too lazy to cook. I place orders almost every day due to which my interaction with and gratitude to the delivery riders is always there. They come bearing a lot in the cold in the heat and give your goods to you. We should treat them with utmost respect.

Kapil has mastered comedy but is this film serious, so did you guide him a bit?

I would say that they have the opposite experience. He has done theater for many years. Have also taught. He acted in a very natural way on the set. I understood from the very first day that they have done it earlier also. Otherwise he could not have done it so easily. Circumstances so happened that the comedy show went on and he started doing comedy. That’s where people’s attention got stuck. It is not that he does not know acting. He lives very much in the present, he pays a lot of attention to what is happening around him. He uses the same thing in comedy. He has used those experiences in acting as well. I would say that I got to learn a lot from him. It is our misconception that if he does one thing well, he will not do the other well. As people have seen me in serious roles, people would think that Shahana will not be able to do Bollywood dance numbers, but I am classically trained. I have also learned salsa. I have grown up doing Bollywood dance, but no one will give me a chance, thinking that she cannot do it. There is a stereo type thinking, which you cannot change. Kapil is very different, it is known in the first meeting itself. He has lived all the colors of life. He has remembered all of them very well. In his life, in his writing, in his work, he also uses it very well.

Have you both done some workshops together to understand each other’s acting?

No, we just met once at Nandita’s house for a script reading. Everything happened smoothly on the shoot itself. We both are a little spontaneous type of actors. That worked. We did not rehearse much during the scenes. Remembered the fat line, got a little flow. We took a look at the position for a camera moment. In front of what we used to know at that time. That’s what we used to do.

Have you ever followed his show?

Nandita had also not seen it and I have never seen the full show of Kapil Sharma. I have seen in pieces on social media, when films are promoted. Yes, I was fully aware that he is a great comedian. It is impossible not to know the name of Kapil Sharma in our country. Now that he has been recognized, it feels good that the country loves him so much. His fans can’t even imagine that Kapil can do this too. Later on, he might do more serious roles like this, but this was the first one. When he did exactly something with his image.

What is the message of this film?

Nandita’s aim is to show the mirror. How do you feel about it now? That’s on you. People who are a little missing from our lives. Through our eyes, through our thoughts, we have to bring their lives and their stories on the screen. I know people usually don’t come to see this kind of film, but Kapil is there. Which is a big reason to bring people to the theatre. For the first few days, if people see the film and it will definitely be discussed and then more people will come. I have so much faith in the film that the film will touch the heart.

What are your upcoming projects?

Anu Menon is a film with Vidya Balan. Dispatch is with Manoj Bajpayee. Have also completed an anthology film. All this will come in handy this year.
