Ingredients of Oats Idli
10 servings
2 1/2 cups oats
1/2 tsp baking soda
3 pinches of salt
1 tsp green chili
1 tsp asafoetida
2 tbsp mustard seeds
2 1/2 cups semolina
6 tbsp peas
1 handful coriander leaves
1 1/2 cups curd (yogurt)
6 tbsp carrots
1/2 cup sunflower oil
for main dish
420 ml buttermilk
how to make oats idli
1. Wash and chop all the vegetables and keep aside. Dry roast the oats in a pan on medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove, cool and grind into a coarse or smooth powder. Once the oats are roasted, take them out in a bowl and keep aside. Now put semolina in the same pan and fry till it becomes golden and take it off the flame. When the semolina cools down, mix it with roasted oats.
2. After this, place a pan on medium heat and heat some oil in it. Add mustard seeds and let it crackle for 30 seconds. Add chopped vegetables carrot, green peas, green chili paste and fry for a minute or two. Put it in the mixture of oats.
3. Add salt, asafoetida, coriander leaves, baking soda, curd and buttermilk. Mix well to get the consistency of idli batter. Cover and keep it for a few minutes.
4. Put the idli in a plate greased with ghee and steam it till cooked, take it out and serve hot with chutney or sambar.
