On giving Padma Bhushan to music composer Pyarelal, Laxmikant’s daughter said, ‘Both should be honoured’

Famous musician Laxmikant’s daughter said that the Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo gave music in more than 700 films and she welcomes the decision of giving Padma Bhushan to Pyarelal, but her late father should also get this honour. Laxmikant’s family has also written a letter to the Union Home Ministry and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry regarding the matter. Let us tell you that on the eve of Republic Day, Pyarelal, who is a part of the veteran musician duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, was nominated for Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award.
Laxmikant should also get respect along with Pyarelal
Rajeshwari Laxmikant told PTI, “We are very happy that Pyarelal uncle has finally got the award… We feel that when it comes to the Padma Bhushan award, you cannot separate Laxmikant-Pyarelal.” And we cannot give the award to Pyarelal uncle just because he is here and my father has unfortunately passed away.
Late father should get this honor
Laxmikant’s wife Jaya Kudalkar in her letter has appealed to the government to give this honor to her late father along with Pyarelal. This letter was sent to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting three days ago, whereas this letter was written to the Home Ministry a day earlier i.e. on Tuesday. Rajeshwari said that the family wrote this letter because Laxmikant-Pyarelal are known as a music composer duo and they composed every tune together as a team.
The pair of Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal Sharma created a lot of noise.
He said, “Dear uncle really deserves it and my father also deserves it because both of them worked together and everything from contribution to music is exactly the same.” Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal Sharma in the year 1963. He started his career as a music composer with the film ‘Parasmani’ and made his mark a year later with the success of ‘Dosti’. The music composer duo composed music for iconic films like ‘Do Raaste’, ‘Daag’, ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, ‘Bobby’, ‘Amar, Akbar, Anthony’ and ‘Karz’ and created history by providing music for more than 35 years. This partnership ended with the death of Laxmikant in 1998. Laxmikant died at the age of 60.
