New Delhi: Indian javelin thrower teen jenna to be held in Budapest from 19 to 27 August World Athletics Championships Got visa to travel to Hungary on Friday to attend. Confirming the news, a source in the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) said that the visa has been approved after his interview on Friday morning. They will get travel related documents after some time.
Visa was canceled on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the Hungarian Embassy in India canceled Jena’s visa application. Following the cancellation of Jena’s visa, fellow javelin thrower and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra on Thursday sought the intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs to resolve the issue so that the athlete can compete in the World Athletics Championships. On his social media handle X, Neeraj urged External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to ‘find a solution’.
Neeraj Chopra appealed
Tagging the Ministry of External Affairs and Jaishankar, Neeraj Chopra posted, ‘Just heard that there are some issues with Kishore Jena’s visa which is preventing him from entering Hungary for the World Championships. I hope the authorities are able to find a solution as this is one of the biggest moments of his career. Let’s do everything we can. Jena has made it to the World Championship through the World Ranking Quota.

Four Indian players qualify
Kishore Jena won the gold medal at the Sri Lankan National Championships on 30 July with a personal best performance of 84.38m. Jena qualified for the event after finishing 36th in the ‘Road to Budapest’ list updated by World Athletics after the qualification period ended on 30 July. The 27-year-old is one of the four Indian javelin throwers to have qualified for the World Championships.

DP Manu and Rohit Yadav also qualified. However, Rohit later dropped out due to elbow surgery. Jena and Manu, who won a silver medal in the National Inter-State Championship in June, are the two players in the 28-member team that are yet to reach Budapest. Neeraj Chopra said, am close to crossing the distance of 90 meters
Meanwhile, India’s star sportsperson and Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra has been trying to clear the 90 meter distance for some time now and said he is close to achieving the goal and all he needs are favorable conditions. Chopra, a gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, had come very close to throwing the javelin to a distance of 90 meters last year. Then he threw 89.94 meters in the Diamond League competition in Stockholm.

Chopra told Geo Cinema, ‘Definitely I am close to this goal. All I need is a good day with favorable weather conditions. I am confident that I will be successful in achieving this goal. He said that he has become used to dealing with the expectations being placed on him. Chopra said, ‘I have become used to the pressure. However, when I participate in competitions held every two or four years (such as the World Championships and Olympics), there is definitely a sense of responsibility.

He said, ‘But I always give my 100 per cent and concentrate fully on my performance. Earlier some things used to dominate me, but gradually I got used to them. Chopra had won the prestigious Diamond League title for the second time in a row on June 30 with a throw of 87.66m but he is yet to reach the 90m mark. “It is challenging to compete and maintain consistency in performing at the top level in front of the best players in the world. In the beginning of this year, I was very well prepared but after that I got injured due to which I had to withdraw from some competitions.
Neeraj Chopra was injured for almost a month
Chopra, who was out for a month due to injury, said, ‘After that I made a comeback in the Lausanne Diamond League where I performed well. Since then everything is going well and I am happy with my performance and practice. “The most important thing for me is to be mentally prepared for the challenges as the World Championship is round the corner and I want to do well in that,” he added. Chopra said, ‘I am not aiming for any particular distance or medal in my mind. I don’t want the fear of injury or anything to be on my mind when I compete there. I want to do my best and if that happens, I will come back with a better performance than before.
