Los Angeles | The Oscar for Best Supporting Actor went to Vietnamese-American actor Huy Quan. He beat the likes of Brendan Gleeson (“The Banshees of Inishrin”), Brian Tyree Henry (“Causeway”), Judd Hirsch (“The Fablemans”) and Barry Keoghan (“The Banshees of Inishrin”) to win the award. The actor received the honor for his comeback role in the film ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’. The actor created history as the first Vietnamese-born actor to win an Oscar.
A tearful Hui Quan said in her speech, “My mother is 84 years old and she is watching the ceremony at home.” Mom, I just won an Oscar. My journey started on a boat, I spent a year in a refugee camp and here I am today. One of the biggest events in movies. They say that stories like this happen only occasionally. This is the American dream.
The 95th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, is underway at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.(IANS)
