SS Rajamouli’s RRR song Naatu Naatu won the Best Original Song. Other nominees in the category include Applause (Tell It Like a Woman), Hold My Hand (Top Gun Maverick), Lift Me Up (Black Pather Wakanda Forever) and This Is a Life (Everything Everywhere All at Once). RRR is a period drama featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan as tribal leader Komaram Bheem and the brave Alluri Sitarama Raju, respectively. The fictional saga celebrates his fight against the British Empire.
Meanwhile, The Elephant Whispers by Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga won the Documentary Short Subject Oscar. The other nominees were Hallout, How Do You Measure an Year?, The Martha Mitchell Effect, Stranger at the Gate. The Elephant Whispers follows Bomman and Bailey, a couple from South India who dedicate their lives to caring for an orphaned baby elephant named Raghu.
