Pakistan Super League (PSL) affected due to withdrawal of foreign cricketers

Karachi: With multiple franchise leagues running simultaneously across the world, some cricket boards have refused to allow their players to compete in domestic T20 matches of other countries, leading to the withdrawal of many big international cricketers from the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Had to take.

The PSL begins on February 17 in Lahore and all six franchise teams have suffered huge losses with many players opting for the ‘Bangladesh Premier League’, ‘ILT20’ and ‘SA20’ leagues. PSL team Multan Sultans will not be without the support of many key players. In this, England fast bowler Reece Topley is the latest player to be ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) also said that it has not issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Topley to play in the PSL. Some other boards are also having second thoughts about giving no objection certificate for PSL. While Peshawar Zalmi will not get the services of South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi, Quetta Gladiators will have to take the field without Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga.

West Indies cricketers Shai Hope, Matthew Ford and Akil Hussain along with South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamshi and Rassie van der Dussen will also not play in the upcoming season of PSL. England’s James Vince and Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmed and Naveen Ul Haq will also be out of the entire tournament.

The PSL franchise owner has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to reconsider the tournament window. He said on the condition of confidentiality, “‘SA20’ was recently concluded and ‘ILT20’ will end on the day ‘PSL’ starts, so now it is becoming difficult to sign contracts with big players. He said that in January- February is a busy season for international cricket series. Sri Lanka is playing a series against Afghanistan, South Africa is playing a two-Test series against New Zealand while West Indies is playing a series against Australia. “There is a strong need to change the PSL window,” he said. If this does not happen, we will not be able to sign contracts with big foreign players and the attractiveness of this league will be lost.
