Especially Deepika Padukone’s orange bikini was asked to be removed from the scenes. Now, filmmaker Siddharth Anand has spoken openly about it. He said how he felt when the Boycott trend started, whether he was scared about the release of the film or not.

During the threats, criticism and boycott before the release of Pathan, both Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan remained silent. The film’s producers, Yash Raj Films, also refrained from reacting to the boycott call. Now, in a new interview, director Siddharth Anand has said that since ‘there was nothing objectionable in the film’, the cast and crew members were ‘not scared’. Siddharth Anand said during a conversation with News18, “We were not scared. We knew that there was nothing objectionable in our film.” He further called the Pathan boycott ‘a white noise’. The filmmaker also recalled how the color of Deepika’s dress was during the shoot.
Siddharth spoke on orange bikini
Siddharth said, ‘When we were in Spain, I chose that costume randomly. We never gave it much thought. The color was looking good, it was sunny, the grass was green and the water was blue and the orange color was looking good. We thought that when the audience sees it, they will understand that our intention was not wrong.” The Pathan song Besharam Rang featuring Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh was removed on December 12, 2022. A scene in the song showed Deepika wearing an orange bikini Madhya Pradesh minister Narottam Mishra was among those who expressed their displeasure over Besharam Rang, and demanded changes in the film before its release. A complaint was also filed before a court in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district. It sought registration of an FIR against Shah Rukh, Deepika and others for ‘hurting religious sentiments’ with their song Besharam Rang.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s film Pathan also stars John Abraham and Dimple Kapadia in lead roles. The film was released in theaters on 25 January. Since then it has broken many box office records by becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
