India and Pakistan war has been one of the favorite subjects of Hindi cinema. From time to time, films have been made on this subject and from Border, Ghazi to Raazi have been made on the 1971 war. An important incident of the story of this war has been told in director Raja Menon’s film Pippa. War Tank PT 76 which Indian soldiers called Pippa. This film shows the importance of Pippa in this war. This is also a story of family relationships. Apart from being a story of humanity, it is also a story of pride; this film also brings to the fore the fact that hardly any country in the whole world would have fought to liberate another country. Overall, this film had everything – emotion, drama and passion, which was required for a great film, but on screen it remained average.

The story of the film is of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta. The book is based on The Burning Chaffs. The main axis of the story is the family of a soldier dedicated to the service of the country, consisting of two brothers, the elder brother, Major Ram Mehta (Priyanshu Painyuli), and the younger brother, Captain Balram Singh Mehta (Ishaan Khattar). Like every other Hindi film, the responsibility has made the elder brother strict and the younger one naughty. Due to which there are arguments between them every day. He also has a sister Radha (Mrinal) and mother (Soni Razdan). Who keeps taking care of both. The story returns to the original point and we see Ram and Balram being called for the 1971 war in which India fought to liberate East Pakistan from Pakistan, now known as Bangladesh. Both go into battle on their own separate paths with different responsibilities. Will their way into the battlefield? Will happen, which will give a new turn to the relationship in their personal life also. This is the further story of the film.

Advantages and disadvantages of the film

The theme of the story of the film is interesting, in which the aspect of humanity is connected. This story has become even more important in view of the current Gaza tragedy when one country fought a war to restore peace in another country. Although along with war, the unraveling of relationships is also an important part of the story, but the way family relationships have been added to this war backdrop. He has not been able to appear on screen in such a way that an emotional connection can be created. The chemistry between the brothers is missing. Along with this, Balram calls War Tank PT 76 as his life, this fact has not been revealed effectively in any scene in the story of the film. Pippa’s work ethic is not portrayed with the excitement it needed most.

In the film, Pakistan’s preparations have been mentioned only in some dialogues. Apart from this, the main motive of the film is that one country took up arms for the freedom of another country. This aspect has also not been able to come on screen with that glory. The characters are also half baked. Radha i.e. Mrinal’s character in the film knows cryptography, how she learned it, her back story is missing in the film. The information was given by just saying that I am interested in it. Talking about the songs and music of the film, it does justice to both the theme and era of the story. The rap song may seem a bit strange in a story set in the 70s, but it does justice in the film. This cannot be denied. The film’s strong side is from cinematography, costumes to production design. Yes, a little more work was needed on the action choreography.

Priyanshu is better than Ishaan in acting

Ishaan Khattar is a good actor, he has proved this in many of his films till now, but in this film he has remained a bit weak as a soldier. His face and body language did not convey the emotion that was required by this story and his character. Priyanshu Painyuli has done a better job than Ishaan as a soldier. This cannot be denied. There was nothing special for Mrunal Thakur to do in the film. The rest of the characters have also done justice to their roles in the limited space.
