Pixar fires Lightyear director, producer

San Francisco. The “Lightyear” director and producer is among those affected by recent job cuts at Walt Disney’s Pixar Animation Studios. Director Angus McLane and producer Glynn Sussman were among Disney’s layoffs in late May.
According to ‘Deadline’, his film based on the ‘Toy Story’ character from Buzz ‘Lightyear’ was banned in many Islamic countries due to a same-sex kissing scene between Uzo Aduba’s female character Alisha Hawthorne and her partner Kiko, and Despite positive reviews, the studio lost $106 million.
Animator MacLaine, 26, was part of the senior creative team on “Coco,” “Incredibles 2” and “Toy Story 4,” and Suzman has been at the studio since the original Toy Story was released in 1995. Both were among 75 employees fired by Pixar.
Lightyear failed to impress at the box office, although it earned $226.7 million worldwide on a $200 million budget.
Layoffs at the animated studio last occurred in 2013 and cut roughly 5 percent of Pixar’s 1,200 employees.
