Visakhapatnam. Ishan Kishan did not get many chances in the World Cup. But, the explosive wicketkeeper-batsman has grabbed the headlines by playing an inning of 58 runs in the opening match of the T20 series against Australia.

The first match of the T-20 series between India and Australia was played in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. In this match, India made a successful chase of 209 runs, which is India’s biggest run chase in T-20 so far.

Ishan Kishan played an important inning in this victory. He hit 2 fours and five sixes during his innings of 58 runs in 39 balls.

After the return of Shubman Gill in the World Cup, Ishan Kishan was dropped from the playing-11.

Now the left-handed batsman has revealed how working on his game during the World Cup played a role in scoring the target against Australia.

Ishan said, “This was during the ODI World Cup. When I was not a part of the playing-11. I asked myself before every practice session, ‘What is important for me right now? What could I do?’ I practiced a lot in the nets. I was constantly talking to the coaches about the game, how to take the game deeper and how to target certain bowlers.

“Being a lefty batsman against a leg spinner, I know what the wicket was like because I kept wicket for 20 overs. When you are chasing 209, you need to target a bowler. Which you can hit.”

After initial setbacks, there was a match-winning partnership between Ishan Kishan and Surya and in the last overs, Rinku Singh played the role of a finisher to ensure India’s victory.
