Mumbai . Actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran opens up about his physical transformation in ‘The Goat Life’. Regarding the film, he said that he knew that he would have to undergo a huge physical transformation. He had lost a lot of weight for this.
The Malayalam film ‘Aadujeevitham’ or ‘The Goat Life’ is directed by Blessy.
The film is based on Benjamin Benjamin’s 2008 best-selling novel of the same name and tells the true story of Najeeb, a migrant worker from Kerala who was forced into slavery on a goat farm in the Middle Eastern country.
“As an actor, I knew I would have to lose a lot of weight for this, as well as undergo drastic physical transformation,” Sukumaran told variety.com.
The film was shot in Kerala, Jordan and Algeria, Prithviraj had to gain weight first for the Kerala portion of the shoot. But for the next part of the film he had to reduce his weight by 31 kg.
Sukumaran said, “I surprised myself and everyone in the film crew. When I next arrived in Jordan, I was unrecognizable.”
The shooting of the film was stopped due to Covid-19. Due to which the crew remained stuck in Jordan for months. When he returned after a year and a half, the star had to gain weight again to stay healthy.
He said, “For this he had to work hard again.” I didn’t expect to have to do the entire weight loss process twice, which I had to do. Once you reach that level and become a part of the film it is not easy to come back. I couldn’t let all that go to waste.”
Sukumaran said, I know that most of the media attention is on my physical transformation but that is only a small part of the portrayal. “I thought about the whole arc early on and I told Blasey that it would be impossible for me as an actor to see it as one long solo character.”
According to the report of Variety.com, Prithviraj’s next film is producer Ali Abbas Zafar’s action film ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’, in which he is playing the role of a villain.
Talking about the film, he said, “If things go well, the plan is to make it a franchise. You look at James Bond or ‘Mission Impossible’, in every film the real story is about the villain and then the hero comes to save the world.
‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ will be released this week on the occasion of Eid.
