Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal became a blockbuster, earned Rs 500 crore worldwide, know where the figure reached in India

Animal Box Office Collection Day 5: Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal not only passed the crucial Monday test with flying colors but it also barely registered a dent on Tuesday. According to industry tracker Sacanilc, the film earned Rs 40 crore on its fourth day in theaters on Monday and Rs 38 crore on its fifth day. Animal had earned a massive Rs 201 crore in India in its opening weekend, making it the second highest first day gross in the history of Bollywood cinema, behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. The film’s total domestic gross after five days of release is Rs 283 crore, and according to T-Series, its five-day global total is Rs 481 crore.

Animal’s box office collection on the fifth day makes it Ranbir Kapoor’s second biggest hit domestically and worldwide. The film outperformed last year’s Brahmastra on both fronts, and is now behind Sanju’s domestic collections of Rs 342 crore and global earnings of around Rs 590 crore. Animal will likely cross both the milestones in the coming days, and emerge as one of the top five biggest Indian blockbusters of the year. The film has two full weeks without any competition until Shah Rukh Khan attempts to complete the hat-trick of success this year with his upcoming film Dunky. SRK delivered two back-to-back blockbusters – Pathan and Jaawaan – earlier this year with combined global earnings of over Rs 2200 crore.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal recorded an occupancy of 42% for its Hindi language release on its fifth day. Once again, the Telugu market numbers were solid, with occupancy in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions at 30%. However, it is clear that the film has not performed that well in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. While Ranbir cemented his stardom with the film, Animal also established Vanga as a force to be reckoned with.

All three of his films so far have been blockbusters, but each of them has also given rise to controversies. Like Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, Animal has attracted criticism for glorifying toxic masculinity. But none of these complaints had the slightest effect on Arjun Reddy or Kabir Singh and they do not seem to have any effect on Animal either. In fact, the film is defying the restrictions that come with an A certificate and a duration of almost three and a half hours. Animal also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
