He was admitted in a hospital in Kolkata. The artist was admitted to a hospital in South Kolkata. He died there at 3:45 pm on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. Rashid Khan was a big name in Hindustani classical music and has also contributed to the Bollywood industry.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. He said, “This is a big loss for the entire country and the entire music world. I am very sad because I still cannot believe that Rashid Khan is no more. Rashid loved Bengal and stayed in Bengal. He went to all parts of the world to promote music.

Rashid Khan has also sung songs for Bollywood films.

Ustad Rashid Khan has sung songs for ‘My Name is Khan’, ‘Kadambari’, ‘Manto’ and ‘Mitin Mashi’. People still like the song ‘Aaoge Jab Sajna…’ sung by Ustad for the Bollywood film ‘Jab We Met’. Born in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, Rashid Khan entered the world of music at the age of just 11 years.
