Basmati rice- 1 cup
Whole masoor dal- 1 cup
Oil- 1 tbsp
Bay leaf- 1
Dry red chilli – 1 whole
Cloves- 3-4
black pepper
Cinnamon- 1/2
Cumin- 1 tsp
Chopped Onion- 1/2 cup
thinly sliced onion
Cumin powder- 1 tsp roasted
Cinnamon powder- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/3 tsp
Coriander powder- 1 tsp
salt as per taste
Water- 2 cups
a little roasted onion
Flour – 1 tsp
Method:’
- Soak the rice in water for half an hour.
- Soak masoor dal in water for two hours and cook it in boiling water for 15 minutes, filter it.
- Heat oil in the cooker. Add all the whole spices and fry. Add onion and fry.
- Now add turmeric powder, salt, roasted cumin powder, cinnamon powder and coriander powder.
- Mix basmati rice and lentils. Mix two and a half cups of water and let it boil.
- Let it whistle for 2 whistles on low speed. Mix lengthwise onion and flour and mix well.
- Fry in hot oil until crisp.
- Place the prepared rice on a plate, garnish with crunchy onions, chopped coriander and mint and serve.
