Team India so far world test championship Could not qualify for the finals. If Team India in Indore Border-Gavaskar Trophy If they had won against Australia in the third test match of the series, then the place in the final would have been confirmed. But Australia sealed their place in the final with an emphatic nine-wicket win and India await another win.
Suggested line up changes
Australian legend Ricky Ponting, however, is confident that the Rohit Sharma-led team will make it to the final of the WTC. In view of the struggle against the Australian team, he has suggested to take out-of-the-box steps in the batting order. Ponting understands that the conditions in England for the WTC final will be a complete contrast to India at home and therefore feels the team should consider tweaking their line-up for the final.
Ponting came out in support of KL Rahul
India dropped veteran KL Rahul for the fourth Test after the opener’s prolonged poor performance. Shubman Gill played in his place. Speaking on the ICC review, Ponting felt that both Gill and Rahul should be part of the line-up for the WTC final at The Oval in June. Ponting supported Rahul on the basis of his figures in England.
Rahul has scored two centuries in England
India’s star KL Rahul has scored two out of seven Test centuries in England. He scored 149 runs at The Oval in the 2018 tour and 129 runs at Lord’s in 2021. The former Australian cricketer feels that Rahul can be used in the middle order. Ponting suggested, a player like KL Rahul cannot be excluded. You can keep both Gill and Rahul in the team. Shubman can start at the top and KL can potentially go down the middle order.
pant missing
Ponting’s advice has come at a time when Team India’s star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who was injured in a road accident, is running out of the team. It may still take a long time for them to recover. India will miss an impactful batsman in the middle order in the form of Rishabh Pant, who also has a century in England. Now Rahul is in the team as a wicketkeeping option, so he can come in the middle order.
