Rohit Sharma said: Kohli is the fittest cricketer, never seen him in NCA

Hyderabad. Indian captain Rohit Sharma on Sunday praised the working style of his predecessor Virat Kohli, saying that the former Indian captain was so conscious about his fitness that he never went to the National Cricket Association (NCA) to seek the services of experts.

Rohit Sharma acknowledged the fact that Kohli is one of the fittest players in world cricket at the moment during the first Test against England at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here. With Kohli pulling out of the first two Tests citing personal reasons, India lost to England by 28 runs despite taking a lead of 190 runs in the first innings.

In a conversation with veteran cricketer Dinesh Karthik during India’s Test series against England, the Indian captain said that he wants the youngsters to take inspiration from Kohli.

Rohit told Karthik on Jio Cinema, Virat Kohli has never gone to NCA in his entire career. I would say that all young players should see his passion. Forget about how he plays cover drives, flicks, cuts, but first understand what is the quality of the players that makes them where they are today.

Kohli had joined the Indian team in Hyderabad ahead of the first Test but did not participate in the optional training session on Monday before withdrawing from the first two Tests after discussing the issue with Rohit and the team management.

Rohit said, I have seen Kohli a lot. He can easily be satisfied with what he has achieved. He can say that I will rest in these 2-3 series, I will come later, but he is always there for the team. The mentality of being hungry and not satisfied cannot be taught. You have to learn this by watching others. It has to come from within. I can’t teach you this.’
