Chennai: Rohit Sharma also dreams of being a part of the Indian team that wins the ODI World Cup like Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar’s dream was fulfilled in 2011, which was his sixth and last World Cup. Rohit has won two ICC competitions – the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy but is yet to register an ODI World Cup title to his name.
Rohit said in reference to Tendulkar, “You must have heard the great man saying here many times that unless he wins the World Cup, his work will remain incomplete. I am sure you will know who I am talking about.” He said on the eve of Sunday’s match against Australia here, ”The same thing applies to us also. You want to win the World Cup. This is the biggest award of your career. But for this there is a process which you have to follow.” But the Indian captain understands very well that the desperation to achieve something can also lead to losses.
Rohit said, “When you are desperate to achieve something, many other things can also happen. So it’s good to be desperate and hungry to win titles, but you need to find a balance. You have to balance things in every situation. Rohit also said that dealing with pressure is a special quality and every player overcomes it in his own way.
He said, “I am sure that at some stages of the tournament some players will go under pressure, teams will go under pressure. This is where your passion comes through and we have players who know how to deal with such situations.
