Dubai | South African fast bowler Marco Jansen beat strong contenders like India’s Arshdeep Singh, Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and New Zealand’s Finn Allen to win the ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award for 2022. Jansen took 36 wickets in eight Tests for South Africa during 2022. He found success on the tours of England and Australia, averaging only 13.11 and 13.33 respectively. His nine Test wickets in New Zealand came at an average of 28.55, as he contributed with the bat to Dean Elgar’s side.
The fast bowler made four appearances for South Africa in the two white-ball formats, showing early glimpses of his quality. He took two wickets in his only T20 match against Shreyas Iyer and in ODI against Bangladesh.
He said, “I am very happy to receive this award. I have worked hard on my bat and ball over the last 12 months, especially my batting, so to be awarded as the ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year for 2022 is a special feeling.” Have respect.”
On winning the award, Janssen said, “I would like to thank all the coaches, support staff and my teammates who have helped push me over the past year. I hope I can continue to improve for South Africa in the years to come.” And I can keep performing.”
The pacer’s most memorable performance of 2022 came against England in a Test at The Oval, scoring 30 and taking 5/35 to bundle out the hosts for just 158. In the future, he will grow faster as an all-rounder.(IANS)
