RRR 20th week in Japan, still running in 202 screens

SS Rajamouli’s RRR has yet again brought laurels to Indian cinema with its stupendous performances. With Golden Globes and Oscars to its credit, the film has created history and broken several records. According to reports, RRR is still running on more than 200 screens in Japan. According to the team, RRR is currently in its 20th week in Japan and is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. It is indeed a huge milestone for an Indian film in the country. In Japan, RRR is the second film after Rajinikanth’s Muthu to do business at the Japanese box office and become the number one Indian film released there. For the last 30 years, Muthu was the only Indian film to do the highest business in Japan.

RRR’s Natu Natu won the Oscar for Best Original Song beating the likes of Lady Gaga and Rihanna. It is the first Indian film to receive this honour. With the world talking about RRR’s achievements at the 95th Academy Awards and Golden Globes 2023, the film quietly enters its 20th week in Japan. The official Twitter handle of RRR revealed that the period action drama is still running in over 200 theaters in Japan.

RRR released in Japan on 21st October and is still running successfully. SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan went to Japan to promote the film.

RRR is a fictional historical drama based on the lives of two Telugu revolutionaries – Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. Junior NTR and Ramcharan appeared in these characters. The film won several awards in the international market and attracted the attention of fans irrespective of the language.
