It is said that the protesters were from the Tamil Desia Forward Bloc. They were continuously shouting slogans to stop the screening of the film. The protesting people were also raising slogans against the ruling DMK. In such a situation, the police immediately took 20 people into custody to maintain peace.

Kumaresh Babu rejected the plea of filmmaker Ramasarvanan of OST Films seeking a stay on the film’s release. Ramasarvanan had alleged that Udhayanidhi was trying to release ‘Mamanan’ without completing ‘Angel’, which would cause him losses.
