I wanted to be a homemaker. I admit I can’t cook and I admit I’m Monisha Sarabhai but I wanted to get married and have kids. I had never had such big dreams of becoming a big star.

I had one aim and that was to build a home for animals and old people. For this I needed money. I needed money first to run my house and then for an animal shelter. And since I knew acting, I decided to do it. That’s why this craze of Anupama doesn’t affect me, thanks a lot but I didn’t get addicted to it. For me it is my work. It is God’s great grace, Jai Mahakal, Jai Mata Di, that I got this opportunity to reach so close to the audience.

When it came to motherhood, I wanted to be a mother and have a child. But due to thyroid, my maternity count was very low. My son was nothing less than a miracle child. There were no complications during pregnancy. Everything went well. I got help with things like drip, injection. I had normal delivery.

Rupali says- I started eating different types of things and I became 83 kg. Was very fat. After a point even my ankles could not bear my weight. When I used to take my son for a walk in the pram, people used to say, ‘Arre tu toh Monisha hai na, kitni moti hoga gayi’. Maybe someone said it in a very nice way, but you feel bad. That thing then stings. An actress friend of mine came to meet me and she said to me, ‘Arre tu to aunty ban gayi’. These things keep affecting you mentally and bother you. People don’t have the right to call you Aunty, Moti, you decide what you want to be called.

After three years of Anupama, I can say that I accept her for who she is. To any woman who is going through this, I would say reply to your haters. Don’t let anyone influence you because you can judge yourself better. No one else.

If you think I am not of that level, then tell her, I will work on them. Trolling and compliments are welcome but if you shame me, it will not be tolerated.
