Russell is my idol, want to win matches for KKR like him: Ramandeep Singh

New Delhi . The countdown for IPL 2024 has started. All the teams have started their respective preparations. Ahead of the start of the new season of the tournament, seam-bowling all-rounder Ramandeep Singh, who will play for Kolkata Knight Riders, said he is looking forward to playing with Andre Russell.

Just as Andre Russell has been a match winner for KKR, Ramandeep Singh wants to play the same role in the team.

Ramandeep, who plays for Punjab in domestic cricket, played five IPL matches for Mumbai Indians, in which his best contributions came against Hyderabad (3/20) and against Delhi (2/29).

After being released by Mumbai, Ramandeep was roped in by KKR in the Dubai auction last year ahead of the IPL 2024 season.

Ramandeep told KKR Night Club, “I have been following Russell since the beginning and I have seen how he makes an impact with the bat as well as the ball in the T20 format. Whenever I bat So I try and think what Russell would do in this situation and then try to implement it.

“As far as bowling is concerned, Russell bowls the toughest overs for his team and he has won many matches for KKR. I hope that I too am able to win matches for KKR like Andre Russell.”

Talking about how he learned that KKR had selected him, Ramandeep said that he had an idea of ​​​​being selected by the franchise.

Ramandeep said, “I was keeping an eye on the auction on TV, but once my name came up, I switched off the TV thinking that I will see what happens. After some time, I started getting calls from my family and friends. And messages started coming that I have been selected by KKR.”

KKR will begin their main pre-season camp in Kolkata from March 15 ahead of the 2024 edition. Their IPL 2024 campaign begins on March 23 against 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home ground Eden Gardens.
